At the core of Tapo C840 is its dual-lens design. A wide-angle lens captures the entire nursery in sharp 2K 4MP resolution, while a dedicated 1080p telephoto lens focuses in to reveal every detail of a baby’s facial expressions. This combination gives parents both the full room view and close-up clarity at the same time.
Coverage is another strong point. Tapo C840 offers a full 360° horizontal and 114° vertical pan/tilt range, letting parents monitor the entire nursery from a single mounting point. Smart motion tracking automatically keeps a baby in frame as they move, so nothing gets missed during naps or playtime.
Smart detection plays a central role in this camera’s design. Tapo C840 uses AI algorithms to accurately distinguish a baby’s cry from other household sounds, sending instant alerts so parents can respond quickly. Covered-face detection adds an extra layer of safety, notifying parents immediately if a baby’s face becomes obstructed, while a customizable safety fence lets parents set virtual boundaries as their child becomes more mobile.
Night monitoring is handled through non-visible infrared night vision, keeping the room fully monitored after dark without disturbing a baby’s sleep with visible light. A built-in smart night light, controlled through a Bluetooth remote, adds a soothing glow for late-night feedings or comfort.
Extra comfort features round out the experience. Tapo C840 includes soothing lullabies that can be played directly through the app, along with sleep analysis that tracks patterns and generates reports over time. The BabySnap feature also automatically captures precious first moments, from smiles to first steps, without parents needing to reach for a phone.
Two-way audio through a built-in premium microphone and speaker lets parents talk to and comfort their baby from anywhere in the house. Storage stays flexible too, supporting local microSD recording up to 512GB or optional Tapo Care cloud storage.
