The TP-Link Deco M4 is a whole-home mesh WiFi system designed to eliminate dead zones and deliver consistent wireless coverage throughout every room of your house. Built on Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) technology, it operates on dual bands — 5 GHz for high-speed streaming and gaming, and 2.4 GHz for broader range and better wall penetration.

Combined, this gives you AC1200 speeds of up to 867 Mbps on 5 GHz and 300 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. Whether you choose the 1-pack, 2-pack, or 3-pack version, each Deco unit works seamlessly together using TP-Link Mesh Technology, forming one unified network instead of multiple separate routers. The 3-pack is ideal for larger homes, comfortably covering 3–5 bedroom houses with strong signal in every corner.

Unlike traditional range extenders that create a second network and slow down with distance, the Deco M4 uses seamless roaming. Your phone, laptop, or smart TV automatically connects to whichever unit gives the strongest signal as you move through your home — no manual switching required.

Each unit also includes beamforming technology, which concentrates the wireless signal directly toward your devices instead of broadcasting evenly in all directions. This extends effective range, especially in larger or oddly-shaped homes. MU-MIMO support means the system can talk to multiple devices at once, keeping performance stable even in busy households.

Setup and management happen through the Deco app, available on Android and iOS. It walks you through installation in a few simple steps and gives you full control over your network, including parental controls with URL filtering, guest networks on both bands, and remote management via TP-Link ID.

The Deco M4 can run in full Router Mode or Access Point Mode, making it flexible for new setups or for extending an existing network. It also includes features usually reserved for higher-end routers — SPI firewall protection, IGMP Proxy/Snooping, VLAN tagging for IPTV, DHCP server functionality, and full IPv4/IPv6 support.
